  SENSITIVITY DRILL

There are many different types of sensitivity drills

from Wing-Chuns Chi Sao, Silat foot trapping to

Eskrima's tapi-tapi drill.

The drill that we will be using is called Hu-bud /

Lu-bud. This drill is a Kali - Eskrima energy-

exchanging drill that can be used in different

varations. The meaning of Hu-bud Lu-bud is

tranlated in the Filipino language as to tie-up and

un-tie.

This drill can be taught in both empty hands as well

as with any middle to close range weaponry.

Lets determine what type of sensitivity we are

looking at and what exactly needs to be devloped.

First lets look at the definintion of what sensitivtiy

is : The condition or quality of being sensitive;

The responsiveness of an organ or organism to

external stimuli.

In escence, It is the ability to feel that person

through sense; by usage of all five senses;

(A.) Sight

(B.) Touch

(C.) Hear

(D.) Smell

(E.) Taste.

Sensitivity in combat terms means to be able to feel

your opponents oncominng attack through sight and

tactile and be able to counter or smother their attack

with the correct movement or counter attack;

because your movement is a result of his movement,

your technique is a result of his technique.

Two types of Sensitivity we can develop :

(1.) Vision (Vision Sensitivity): The eyes are the best

tool to use for senetivity for if you can see your

opponent you already know what is expected.

You are dealing with two types of visions Central

vision and Peripheral vision both can be developed

and maintained.

(2.) Tactile Sensitivity: This sensitivity is to be able

to touch; That can be perceived by the touch;

tangible;

This is related to the sense of touch; By conditioning

the structure nerve endings with sensitive to touch

or pressure.
